Oriental vibes

William Morris designs inspired by the Arts and Crafts Movement
Another popular design trending across 2023 is inspired by William Morris, a British textile designer, poet, artist and fantasy writer amongst many other things. His name is associated with the British Arts and Crafts Movement which attempted to reform design and decoration in mid-19th century. Members of the movement critiqued the machinery and factory production which, in their opinion, was excessively ornate, artificial and ignorant to the qualities of the materials. So much for the lesson from history! Basically, these patterns are using bold forms and strong colours based on flora and fauna, inspired by the British countryside.
