Escape To The Chateau - Chateau de La Motte Husson
If you’ve seen the hit TV series Escape To The Chateau, then you may already be familiar with Angel Strawbridge’s work. The Chateau wallpaper range is her latest gift to the interior design world and the highly anticipated collection has not disappointed. Since its arrival only a few weeks ago, it has proven to be exceptionally popular and is fast becoming a favourite on our site.
The TV series itself follows designer Angel Strawbridge and her engineer husband Dick as they renovate a 19th century French chateau, bringing together natural and vintage styles to restore the beautiful building and create their dream home. Angel’s wallpaper range is directly inspired by her experience and features four stunning designs which we will explore in greater detail in this post.
The Chateau – Teal Heron Wallpaper
The first of the papers that we are going to look at is The Chateau Teal Heron design. A reoccurring theme in The Chateau collection is strong nature driven designs which can be seen in this range. The design itself is inspired by the heron that visits the family’s moat every morning which has formed the basis of the reoccurring heron motif of the paper. The graceful birds entwine with wild reeds to form an art deco style pattern. This is overlaid on a beautiful teal backdrop with soft silver metallic highlights.
Grey Chateau Heron Wallpaper
This stylish and popular design is also available in a stunning grey colourway. This colourway also features subtle metallic highlights and has a smooth matte finish. Garden Inspired Wallpaper Chateau Potagerie
Next up is The Chateau Potagerie Wallpaper. The truly beautiful and detailed pattern combines an art deco theme with nature and garden inspired motifs. Set on a soft cream backdrop, the design features bees, wild flowers, herbs and vegetables in natural complimenting tones. Below you can see an example of a room using this wallpaper. The brilliant thing about this design is that it is equally as stunning when used to create a striking feature wall as it is when used to decorate the entire room. In the below example, the walls are all papered with the Potagerie design and this is joined by splashes of complimenting colours through the curtains, furniture and accessories.
Angel Strawbridge Museum Wallpaper
This stylish design depicts the spectacular museum wall created by Angel in the TV series. While searching the 19th century Chateau de la Motte Husson, Angel discovered boxes of antique wallpaper offcuts including beautiful hand painted pieces by French artists. From here she used the paper to create the chateau’s Wallpaper Museum which is the inspiration for the design below.
The wallpaper features a patchwork style made up of a variety of vintage patterns and colours cut into elegant diamond shapes. The triangles include floral, striped and bird themed patterns which are stylishly arranged to create this high-quality paper. Also a paste the wall design, this paper is easy to hang and is a stylish addition to any home.
