Cath Kidson is a nostalgic British brand that was born in a small shop in Notting Hill in 1993. The prints are designed to spark up memories from the past and they are ‘made for real life’. All of the designs are intertwined with British culture and create a vintage feel – but they are revamped with a playful twist, making the brand truly distinct and unique. Indeed, Cath Kidston prints are instantly recognisable, and the brand celebrates parts of our culture for example red London buses and the London eye. Cath Kidston floral prints are also iconic, especially the English Rose prints – they are optimistic and bright despite the fact that Great Britain is known for its rainy weather.
A small shop in Notting Hill opened in 1993 and then in 1999 Cath Kidston published her first design book – ‘Vintage Style’. In 2006, the store expanded to Tokyo and Taiwan and Thailand shortly afterwards. In 2008, Cath Kidston became an entire collection and the shoots become a whole lot cuter! In 2010, Cath received an MBE for service to business from the Queen and then in 2012, the brand celebrated the 2012 London Olympic games with the ‘Be a Good Sport’ collection. 2013 marked the brand with a flagship store in Picadilly Circus that can be found today and 2015 saw the brand being brought into new markets in Korea, Malaysia and the Middle East. 2017 saw the brand’s first ever Disney collection sell out and finally in 2020, the brand reimagined the way in which it does business due to the coronavirus pandemic.
It is now a highly successful company with iconic prints that can be recognised pretty much anywhere!
