Who was William Morris?

William Morris was an important figure during Britain’s Arts and Crafts movement, which began in the 1860s. He became famous as the late 19th century’s most celebrated designer. Morris was a man of many talents and interests, including textiles, poetry, art, writing, printing and architectural conservation. He began designing wallpapers in 1862 and produced over 50 wallpapers throughout his career. He was personally involved in the manufacturing process, experimenting with printing from zinc plates and wooden blocks using natural, mineral-based dyes
